The RSPB’s Starlings LGBTQIA+ Network will be marching at Birmingham Pride and London Pride this year.
The RSPB strives to be an organisation that advocates for everyone being welcome in nature. And the more people who enjoy nature, the more people we can count on to help us to secure its future. So our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion doesn’t just make people feel involved: it’s crucial to our mission to save nature too.
The RSPB has a network for employees and volunteers who identify as LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual/Aromantic). The network calls themselves the RSPB Starlings and meets twice monthly so that colleagues can connect, and support each other, which can include attending Pride events.
Each year the group attends between two and five Pride parades across the UK. The Starlings invited members to join them at the London Pride march in 2019 and they are keen to invite you along again this year so that you can join them in celebrating Pride across the conservation sector and beyond.
You do not have to personally identify as LGBTQIA+ to join the Starlings in the parade. If you would like to come and support the cause, they would love to see you.
The Starlings are expecting to attend Birmingham Pride (25 May 2024) and London Pride (29 June 2024) this year.
