Bittern by David Jackson: "I captured this Bittern at RSPB Minsmere swimming across a small pond from one of the hides. Although I have taken quite a few pictures of Bitterns over the last few years it’s the first time I have seen one swim and did not know they even could (actually it was very slow and funny to watch!)."

Golden Oriole by Antony Parker: "My girlfriend and I were walking around Breakwater Country Park in Holyhead Anglesey in April, when we were lucky enough to spot a Golden Oriole. It was hiding deep in the bushes approximately 30 metres from where we stood. After a couple of hours waiting it finally showed itself for a brief moment."

Tawny Owl by Andrew Dobson: "The RSPB Washes flooded to some of their highest levels ever seen and birders feared that the well-known Tawny Owl roost hole on the reserve might go underwater. The Tawny wasn't to be deterred and has stuck it out, eyeing up a much-changed landscape."

Siskins, Goldfinch and Lesser Redpoll by Julie Seakins: "I was delighted to see Siskins, Redpolls and Goldfinches enjoying the sunflower hearts on our feeder last week. A lovely sight."

Adult and juvenile Robin by Angela Pearson: "From our holiday lodge near Spean Bridge, I watched with great amusement as this juvenile Robin sat on the post first. The adult Robin came along and ousted the juvenile from its spot. Not to be deterred, the little juvenile climbed back up, sat behind the adult Robin which wouldn't move then the juvenile pecked the adult on the bottom and it flew off! Better than watching the television."

Herring Gull by Roger Fox: "This Herring Gull, nesting on a neighbour's roof last year, pulled up some of my Forget-me-nots to decorate her nest. The previous year she pulled up a newly planted Hydrangea and placed it, correct way up, in her nest! Waiting to see what this year brings!"
