In January, 592,265 people across the UK counted birds in their gardens and local green spaces for the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch.

This year’s results include the lowest number of Starlings and highest number of Woodpigeons ever recorded in the survey. This reflects other recorded trends in bird populations.

The House Sparrow retained the number one spot in the results.
