We’re hoping that government consultations could deliver an end to the industrial fishing of Sandeels in English and Scottish waters. This tiny fish is a staple in the diets of seabirds and other marine wildlife, yet EU vessels remove hundreds of thousands of them from the North Sea every year to be made into fishmeal and oil to feed farmed animals.

For decades, the RSPB has been campaigning for this to end. Now, thanks to your support, we’re hopeful this will happen soon. More than 30,000 of you took part in our English waters campaign. Find out more about how you can help our threatened seabirds here.
